Marvellous facilities for a CL
We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Brambles. Eric and Sue have thought of everything to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible. Lovely large secluded pitches. With your own taps!! A refuse and recycling bin on each pitch. Which they kindly empty each day. Grey water emptying at your pitch. So you barely have to walk anywhere! They have a spotless shower and toilet facility, which we did not use, as we shower in our caravan. Eric sent us lots of useful information prior to arrival. They gave us a friendly welcome. We only wish we did not live so far away in Suffolk, as we would visit Brambles regularly. We would definitely recommend this site.
Beautiful site and lovely owners!
The CL site is so beautiful and peaceful and spotlessly clean. All amenities are ready on your pitch – electric hook-up, water, bins and grey water disposal. The setting is so lovely with a little walk area around 2 small lakes. The site obviously been made with love! We had a lovely stay and will be back I’m sure. Thank you Best wishes Karen and John Walker
Brambles is a lovely quiet site, where the grounds are maintained to encourage wildlife. The hosts couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. The toilet facilities were clean and well kept. It is a perfect location for visiting Newborough Forest and Beach. We will definitely be returning, thank you for a lovely stay.
Great cl in every respect. Large fully serviced hardstanding pitches. Easy to access. Beautiful, peaceful surroundings, dog friendly including short walk round naturally landscaped ponds bordered with wildflowers. Immaculate clean toilet and shower. The real bonus are Eric and Sue who are perfect hosts, and the cl is a real credit to them both. We research and choose our cls well, and this is certainly up there amongst the very best. Thank you, Eric, and Sue for a wonderful stay.
Quiet Relaxing site
Lovely cl site, with hard standing pitches. Eric and Sue made us feel very welcome Washing facilities were very clean. Good location for visiting Newborough Forest and beach. Thank you Eric and Sue for a fantastic stay.
Ecologically aware and well thought out
Lovely, cared for, quiet site, screened by hedges, which is well located for exploring Newborough Forest and its great beaches. Easy to find if you follow the owners directions. Friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful owners, nothing seems to be too much trouble. Each pitch has its own water standpipe and waste water drain. The site has impressive ecological features, though we would have preferred to see less harsh hard standing and more grass but that’s a personal preference. We couldn’t fault the care and effort that clearly goes into maintaining this rather site. Magnificent views of Snowdonia can be found a short walk down the lane. The adjacent Tacla Taid motor museum is worth a visit if only to marvel at the art deco style 1930’s coach (there is decent cafe too).
A TRANQUIL OASIS
This is truly an oasis for nature lovers; beautifully landscaped and immaculately maintained with fully serviced hard standing pitches which are thoughtfully laid out and screened with trees and shrubs that attract an array of songbirds. The three large ponds are a delight and teem with wildlife. Eric and Sue who are conscientious owners and long experienced caravanners, have put in so much creative attention to detail. Pitches are level, spacious and angled so that no-one directly faces another unit. Wi fi is free and effective. Water, EHU and recycling bins on each pitch, with a shower room and a ‘civilised’ clean loo disposal point. The site is easily reached, thanks to Eric’s meticulous pre-arrival guidance. It’s situated off a relatively quiet B road, a 20 minutes walk outside Newborough, which as a village doesn’t have a lot to offer the tourist but there is a gorgeous level walk through the forest on marked footpaths to the spectacular huge and sandy Llandwynn beach. We were in a 7 metre motorhome but as keen walkers and users of the local coastal bus, getting out and about was fine. If you do own an MH rather than a caravan and car and can’t walk that far, then getting around may not be so easy. But the walk to the village bus stop is about 20 minutes along the level B road. Then again, if you are seeking tranquillity and the beauty of nature, you may not want to venture far from this oasis anyway!
We wish more sites could approach this standard
As is accurately reported this is a top class CL, in fact the best of the very many we have visited. The attention to detail, including clear travel instructions, is exemplary, and the site is situated in a lovely part of the island with easy access to beaches, woodland and the coastal path. Well done Eric and Sue.
This site is one of the best we have been to, of a very high standard. The owners Eric and Sue were very welcoming. Each Pitch has everything, EHU, water, waste and two dustbins, the hardstanding is level. And the price is brilliant. Thanks again Eric and Sue Regards Trev and Kim
Tranquil, peaceful site
Lovely quiet site set in peaceful surroundings, clean and tidy site which when the ongoing landscaping is completed shortly will be even nicer. The shower and toilet were clean and the water hot. There is a beautiful dog friendly beach just a 10min drive away through a forest which also accommodates a great many walks. The owners Eric and Sue were friendly and helpful making our stay very pleasant. We would stay at this site again and for the price Eric and Sue have provided over and above what was expected.
What a find, a truly wonderful site with serviced pitches. Lovely quiet nights in with no glare of artificial light, makes the night sky and wildlife so much better. Walking with our dog was great within the area. Welcoming, easy site, very well kept. Was nice to be away where it was adults only, made such a difference to our time away thank you Eric and Sue for your hard work.
We’ve just had 2 nights at Brambles cl. The owners Eric and Sue are very friendly and have put a lot of thought into the site. The pitch was perfectly flat and each has its own water supply rubbish bins and grey waste. If you want a peaceful stay then this is the place. The only noise you can hear is the birds singing. A short walk into the village for supplies and a great walk or cycle through the fields and forest takes you down to the beach. The vintage transport museum next door is great for the petrol heads to visit while the wife enjoys the sunshine or you can use the cafe. The site is easy to find and in my view a great location. We will be going back that’s for sure.
We had the privilege of being the first visitors to Brambles. Lovely welcome from Eric who has put a lot of thought and hard work into getting the site ready for all year use with 5 hardstanding pitches each with water, drain and electric. 3 wild life ponds and dog walk with lots of trees attracting lots of wild life. A 15 minute walk takes you to the village of Newborough then a further 15 minutes walk through meadows to Newborough forest with its endless walking trails and huge beach. Eric has plans to add toilets and more landscaping to soften the pitches. A site we shall definitely return to.
If Carlsberg made CL sites
We stayed on the site 20th July for two nights in a 7.4 mt motorhome. We were not disappointed! What a little gem! The site has been newly completed by its very welcoming owner and the attention to detail needs to be seen to be believed. The 5 hard standing pitches are spacious, level, offering privacy, with their own water, drain and electric hook up. The whole plot is immaculately kept. The pitches are surrounded by shrubbery, wild-flowers and three lovely ponds. There was an abundance of bird and wildlife and the whole site was tranquil, peaceful, and ideally located for Newborough and the surrounding areas. Great as a base for exploring the island. We visited Newborough village (3 min drive away), where there was a nice chippy, café, and small convenience store. The only consideration is the B road leading to the site from the A55. It is 4 miles long (approx) and can get a little narrow in places. Just be prepared to take your time. You also need to be fully self-sufficient with a toilet. The site will be having a toilet and shower in the future, as part of the programme of development. The owner could not do enough to ensure our stay was five star, with lots of local tips for the area. Thanks very much Eric! We will definitely be revisiting the site this season and would like to go back in the winter as well. It is also fantastic value for money. Highly recommended!!
New CL with a lot of charm
The site is easy to find just off the B4421 but it is best not follow sat nav instructions or you may end up down a very narrow lane. We were made very welcome by Eric who took time to help us choose our pitch. The site has been well thought out with spacious level pitches, bushes between each pitch for privacy, and each pitch has its own water, drainage, and electricity. It has a ‘wild, natural ‘ feel about it and feels quite secluded and peaceful. The site opened in July and we gather that some further improvements are in the pipeline. Eric encouraged feedback about what had been put in place and we were pleased with what had been done, everything was tidy, and the facilities were excellent. We thought that the site offered good value for money. The site was well placed to visit Newborough Forest and beach, both of which are stunning. We can recommend the pub in Aberffraw for food and drink; the pub in Newborough was a little disappointing – no real ales and a limited menu. We were able to visit most of the Island easily from here and the cycling is excellent with quiet lanes and stunning scenery.
Just lovely and relaxing
What a lovely quirky little site. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to stay an extra night. Eric and Sue were such lovely welcoming people and nothing was too much trouble for them. Easy access and a sheltered place to park up. Ideal for exploring the whole of Anglesey or if you want to pop over the straits to the mainland. Our two dogs were given a lovely welcome by Izzie, Eric and Sue’s gorgeous little Collie. We look forward to returning next year and seeing how the wild-flower meadow looks after Eric has scattered the seed! Good luck to the both of you, you deserve it. Jane and Neil Torches essential there’s no light pollution therefore, ideal for star gazing.
Excellent site for an action packed autumn break
We were very pleased to find this excellent site for our 6 night November holiday. Eric was very welcoming and helped us to assemble our newly purchased water and waste equipment and made sure that we felt at home on our individual pitch, set within the attractively landscaped site. The hardstanding, and well drained and sheltered pitch, was ideal for weathering the high winds and heavy rains that have been sweeping the country. We found it an excellent base both for mountain walking in Snowdonia and coastal walks, sightseeing and orienteering on beautiful Anglesey. Lots more still to see so we will definitely have to return!
Great new CL in a good location
We recently visited and stayed for 2 nights – Friendly welcome from Eric and his lovely dog Issy – Eric had already advised me of building work when I first enquired about pitch availability but apologised again. This wasn’t disruptive for us as we’d planned to take our dog walking during the day anyway. The site as it was, was already very good – serviced level hard standing pitches with plenty of space and a nice feeling, certainly one of the more spacious CLs we have visited, and as my wife said, probably our new favourite local CL. As another member has stated, Newborough is about a 15-minute walk away, but has a lovely beach and forest walk – you can spend a few hours pleasant walk here and I think from Easter time, there are a couple of catering trailers parked in the main beach car park for good quality refreshments. A site we will definitely return to.
Lovely CL with natural surroundings, very well thought out. Helpful and friendly owner. Very quiet
Escape from lockdown
We took the opportunity to escape lockdown as Wales opened up at the end of july. We usually go to Anglesey for our first outing of the year and choose a different area each year. We spent a week at Brambles and how lovely it was. Eric welcomed us as we arrived and offered advice for accessing the pitch. The site is a haven of peace and quiet ( a “neigh”bouring horse can be heard occasionally) the ponds were full of lilies and we had a visit from a rabbit each evening. Though the weather could have been better – to be out in the van again was just heaven. Luckily, the site is only a couple of hours from home and as its open all year it looks ideal for return visits even late in the year. Well worth a visit.
Great CL with lovely owners
Had four nights here a couple of weeks ago, last minute booking. Great large private pitches, with water and drainage on all pitches. Hard standing no grass pitches. Very welcoming informative owner, site is kept lovely and tidy surrounded by small Lily Ponds, which you can walk round. No views, but handy for much of what Anglesey has to offer. Would definitely stay again if we visit Anglesey.
A warm welcome from Eric and Izzie. This lovely site is a credit to him, well mown grass and lily ponds and just quiet and peaceful, best Cl we have been on in 20 years, returning next year and hope we get the same hot weather.
Lovely Peaceful Site
I was welcomed personally by the owners, and shown to my pitch. This is a lovely peaceful site, and each hardstand pitch has electricity, water, and waste water facilities. In addition, because of Covid, all the pitches had their own bins, suitably sanitised. Pitches are a good size, and the surrounding pretty area is great for giving a dog a short walk. I thought the lilies in the larger pond were beautiful. It is well maintained, and so, so quiet, and very handy for Newborough Forest. You couldn’t want for more! Thanks, Eric and Sue. I shall be back – just please arrange for drier weather!
Really well thought out venue, excellent!
From communication through booking (during lock-down) through to personal weather warning reports of the impending storm last week, the service offered by Eric & Sue was friendly, efficient and has been some of the best I have ever had! Detail of routes to site, local attractions and beauty spots, as with useful contacts supplied well in advance to arrival. Site is easily accessible from main road, gravel entry through to hardstanding pitches, strategically planted hedges give privacy and shelter, the pitch service points are excellent and well thought out, as is the availability of hardcore to get the angle of the drain pipe right! Toilet block and shower was still awaiting completion, for us not an issue in the current COVID climate, but Eric continually beavering away to complete! Grounds are maintained really well, and an walk around the ponds on a nice evening is a really nice touch! Not more I can say that hasn’t been already said here, quiet, accessible, and convenient. Thanks again to you both for an excellent site and service, hope to see you again, hopefully for a nice autumnal or winter getaway, will be a great venue for out of season stays!
Lovely welcome from Eric
We booked this cl at the last minute after seeing a post on FB saying they had a vacancy. Eric was very accommodating. The site is well laid out, each pitch is hard standing and clearly marked and includes own water tap, waste and dustbin. Eric has thought of everything. The only minor negative was finding the access turn off from the main road. We accidentally turned into the transport museum (luckily they had a car park for us to turn around). This CL is in a beautiful part of Anglesey close to Newborough forest with great cycling from the site. Easy access to main roads to get around Anglesey and also close enough for a day trip to Snowdonia. Eric is very helpful helping guide us into the site and onto the pitch. He knows the area well and can recommend places to visit. A lovely stay. Definitely recommend to others.
Warm welcome on arrival
We were greeted on our arrival by Eric who was most helpful from ensuring we were happily positioned and electric hook up was working ok to our motorhome. The site was very well equipped with a new toilet and shower block. Hygiene was paramount particularly with the Covid 19 and we felt very safe and comfortable during our stay. A lovely area for walking and cycling and fairly flat too. The ponds with the water lilies were a nice feature on the site too. Many thanks for making us both so welcome and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again when we are in this area.
We attended this CL last weekend and feel we should leave a well deserved review for what can only be described as a hidden gem of sites. Located just off the A55 this site hosts 5 fully serviced pitches of which all are hard standing. The site owners Eric and Sue provided good directions and were there to meet us on arrival. It was a first time for us on a serviced pitch and found both our waste pipe and mains hose slightly too short but Eric kindly provided some hoses for our use. The site is quiet and compact but has a nice lolly pond and dog walking area. The shower block is warm and spacious and the chemical waste point is covered and spotlessly clean. The site promotes Covid etiquette and social distancing and hand sanitisers are present. We love Anglesey and this site is a good base for excursions anywhere. We are hoping to return in the winter.
AMAZING, WELCOMING, FANTASTIC
We have stayed at many CL sites over the years but this is by far the best one we have ever found. The site itself is beautifully laid out, each pitch has its own water and waste facilities including recycling and household waste. The pitches themselves are each separated and very secluded. There are beautiful ponds surrounded by very lush grass beautifully maintained. There is a lovely toilet and shower very clean and even hand sanitiser outside before you enter so very Covid secure, and the chemical waste point is very clean. Eric, Sue and their beautiful dog Izzy are without doubt the most loveliest of people and go the extra mile to accommodate requests that are within their power to do so. We were met on arrival by Eric who was so charming. It was only the fact Wales was closing down due to Covid we had to come home and we cannot wait to return again when its safe to do so. We definitely feel we were leaving having made some wonderful friends. Thank you so much for such a wonderful holiday.
Superbly laid out CL with facilities at each pitch. The grounds are well maintained with secluded pitches. Highly recommended with a warm welcome. Well located for access to Newborough Beach.
Arrival on day of first lockdown
We stayed at Brambles in March 2020. This is therefore a very belated review, for which I offer my apologies. However, I could not let the chance to extol the virtues of Brambles completely pass by. Although a Club member for over 20 years, I would normally only use a CL for an overnight stop. Having moved to Anglesey at the beginning of the year, we wanted to stay local for our first trip out in the caravan and chose Brambles based on the positive reviews. Speaking with Eric when booking was a delight and he kindly e-mailed a detailed description of the facilities on offer, with a very helpful map which came in handy as it would be easy to miss the lane leading to the site. We actually arrived on the day the Club announced it’s sites were to close; we had not checked the Club website before setting off, believing there was no risk of sites closing at that stage! Complying fully with the Club’s closing policy, Eric very kindly allowed us to stay for a couple of nights, for which we were extremely thankful. A better place to socially distance, one couldn’t imagine. Very secluded pitch, separate from the house, but secure in the knowledge that Eric and Sue were to hand if any problems arose. We had a great couple of days, and look forward to re-visiting for a longer stay.
Just arrived home after 4 night pleasant stay at “Brambles”. I’ve stayed at plenty of CL sites over the years but I must say the facilities at “Brambles” are the best. Eric & Sue emailed plenty of relevant information on travelling to the site to make our journey effortless. A very quiet and relaxing site near Newborough from which we had some excellent cycle rides.
What a find!
Just returned from 4 nights at Brambles – and what a fabulous site! Each of the 5 bays were spacious, level and very private having their own taps, bins, grey waste drain and 16 amp electricity supply. The free WiFi was excellent and TV reception good. Literally everything you need! The site was immaculate and beautifully laid out. The location is great – nature all around and within walking distance of Newborough which has a Premier shop and pub. It’s great for dogs too – our border collie loved it – watching the rabbits run around early morning! We walked to the beach which is probably a good 2 to 3 miles away. The walk begins on roads but soon goes through a beautiful pine forest which has a maze of paths and tracks. It’s stunning – especially on the island where the views are gorgeous! You can easily drive there too – parking next to beach. It was free when we visited but normally costs £5. Dogs can go anywhere on the beach out of season – but good restricted access during the summer. Eric and Sue could not have been more friendly and helpful – both before and during our stay – really lovely people as are their gorgeous two dogs! We have already re-booked for the summer and can’t wait to return. Thank you very much Eric and Sue. Libby, Nev and Nellie xx
As Good as It Gets
The previous reviews have made my life a lot easier as they’ve virtually said all that needs to be said about this 5* C.L. All I would add is that the pre-visit preparation was excellent, from emails from Eric to PDF instructions for how to arrive, local information and what was expected on site. All laid out in a professional manner. The free wifi is as Eric states “Steam Powered” but providing you don’t expect too much is fine. Just a word of caution about the entrance. The gate is wide enough but take the entrance route to the CL section carefully as the path edges have either logs or large stones and could catch you out if you cut any corners. We found it fine. The single track entrance road only lasts for 100 yards until you reach Brambles. There are free car parks for those that want to access Newborough Forest and beach, two at Malltreath Sands, about 1 mile from site turning westwards in Newborough and one at Pen-Lon, roughly the same distance but eastwards. Extremely quiet site. All in all a perfect place to spend some time in a caravan. Pitches are large by the way. Many thanks to Eric and Sue for their hospitality and to their 2 dogs who are as friendly as they come.
